I’m calling my blog Reflections of a Wiser Woman, not to imply that I am wiser than my readers, only that after many years of a life filled with unanticipated challenges, I am wiser now than I once was. As I share my opinions and experiences, I hope to impart some of this wisdom.
As a middle child, I have been blessed and cursed with the ability to see both sides of an issue, which makes it a challenge for me to come down firmly on one side or another. Present both sides of an argument and I’ll be as likely to agree with both sides as I will be to stand staunchly on one side or the other. But then, nothing in life is ever as cut and dried as we’d wish. That would make life too easy. If life is too easy, we don’t make mistakes. If we don’t make mistakes, how can we learn from them?
When I do finally form an opinion, it’s because of the experiences I’ve had, the mistakes I’ve made, or the research and soul searching I’ve done, have finally led me to a conclusion. I don’t form my opinions lightly and I don’t change them easily. But, as you read some of my entries, you will see where they have changed over time. Sometimes I’ve had to be dragged kicking and screaming into that new world. Sometimes I’ve gone willingly.
Differing opinions add spice to life. I hope I can add some spice to yours.
